#3: POLYPHONIC FEAST: Renaissance music for special occasions (Portland)
Composers knew the importance of religious feast days and produced their best for the occasion. The program features richly scored music for six to eight parts by English Renaissance composers John Taverner and John Sheppard. The centerpiece of the program is Taverner’s best large-scale mass Missa Gloria tibi Trinitas written for Trinity Sunday. The program showcases the music at the height of the English Renaissance.
